Academic success and the pursuit of higher education are two foundational pillars of the Speed Capital organization. At the forefront of the organization is the recognition and rewarding of youth athletes based on their exceptional performance in the classroom; our ‘Academic All-American’ certificates are used to spotlight these individuals. Now, athletes graduating from high school can offset the cost of tuition by applying for one of several scholarships offered by Speed Capital.
To apply, athletes must a) participate in at least one Speed Capital Invitational during the year of their application, b) be a registered member on the Speed Capital website, and c) meet the specific requirements outlined for their chosen scholarship. It is important to note that the scholarship funds are NOT performance-based; all graduating high school athletes who meet the requirements above may apply regardless of their outcomes at the events. Scholarship recipients must enroll in classes the fall semester of their graduating year. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a forfeit of the award. All scholarship funds will be deposited directly to the recipient’s financial ledger at the college or university he/she attends.
Our objective is to offer a minimum of three scholarships, each valued at $1,000.00 respectively, at every Speed Capital event. As we continue to expand our locations throughout the country, so shall we expand our scholarships program. Our end goal is to contribute $100,000.00 annually in scholarship funding to our athletes by 2025.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 13.7 million children ranging from ages 2-19 currently suffer from childhood obesity. This epidemic’s prevalence was 13.9% among 2- to 5-year-olds, 18.4% among 6- to 11-year-olds, and 20.6% among 12- to 19-year-olds. Consequently, these children are at a much greater risk for poor health and the development of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease.
Our objective with this scholarship is to combat childhood obesity by providing an outlet via youth track and field. Increasing participation in youth track and field throughout the country can help combat childhood obesity, as the participating age of a youth track athlete perfectly coincides with the 13.7 million children who are suffering from it.

The Speed Capital Sarcoidosis Awareness Scholarship is dedicated to Janine, a wonderful mother, daughter, wife, and sister who, unfortunately, lost her battle with Sarcoidosis on February 26, 2002 (more about Janine). We aim to shine a light on this devastating disease and to acknowledge the phenomenal work that is being carried out at the Janine Sarcoidosis Outreach Foundation (JSOF).
Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that affects one or more organs, but it most commonly affects the lungs and lymph glands. As a result of the inflammation, abnormal lumps or nodules (called granulomas) form in one or more organs of the body; these granulomas may change the normal structure and possibly the function of the affected organ(s). While this disease might seem uncommon, many high-profile celebrities have lost their battle with/are currently battling Sarcoidosis; Bernie Mac, Judge Joe Brown, Evander Holyfield, and Reggie White are a few.
